Karissa, was it hard to go through the holidays pregnant / not able to drink?
Definitely not as bad as I would have anticipated. Obviously, I would have loved to have a cocktail or two during Christmas and New Years, but it wasn't even that big of a deal. I'd rather have a healthy babe than a drink anyways!
Any plans to holiday detox?
Sam: Absolutely! I feel so gross and thirsty all the time from all the holiday food and drinks. It's going to be so nice to get back to cooking at home and not having events every single night. Zach and I plan on trying to cut out alcohol on weeknights and eating lots of greens and fiber to detox!
Karissa: Not necessarily. I would love to eat more at home and incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet. Pregnancy and eating healthy are not the easiest for me but I'm going to try!
What was the tastiest thing you ate during the holidays?
Karissa: Honestly, all the food was amazing. I would just sit and eat all the appetizers all night-- deviled eggs, buffalo chicken dip, chunky salsa, meatballs etc.
Sam: My mom made a fantastic Chateaubriand with bernaise sauce for Christmas Eve dinner but I also am obsessed with the dessert that is green rice crispies in the shape of a wreath with the red hot candies. It looks like this if you don't know what I mean and I had at least half a wreath.
What was your favorite Christmas gift this year?
Sam: I would say it is probably a tie between beautiful life moss vertical garden Zach surprised me with from Planthropy and the homemade tray my brother carved me out of pine. My family had to cut down one of the pine trees I used as a treehouse and he made a live edge tray out of it with wrought iron handles.
Karissa: Brad bought me these Uggs which I had been wanting for a few months, I love them and will definitely be living in them all winter. I also am obsessed with this purse organizer which makes the biggest difference.
What are your New Years resolutions?
Sam: No real resolutions this year, I just want to focus on managing my stress. I keep taking my work stress home with me and its really draining. I think hot yoga and waking up earlier to get things done will help balance that. Zach and I plan on trying to get a lot better at our cooking skills this year. Just learning little tricks like how to guide the knife with your knuckle to cut exact size slices and how to properly brown meat have changed things a lot for us so far! We invested in some great knives and cookware, I just want to get better at whipping up homemade sauces and making some really great recipes. And lastly, we started a no complaining policy on Christmas Eve so we'll try and stick to that.
Karissa: No New Years resolutions for me this year! I never remember mine a week after I make them anyways. I really need to focus on spending less mostly, I definitely have a shopping addiction.
