must have kitchen gadgets
As people are working on Christmas shopping I thought it would be great timing to put together a post of my all time favorite kitchen items. These are products I use weekly and could potentially not live without.
7 qt La Creuset Dutch Oven - I know most people only use these for roasts and soup but I use this workhorse at least twice a week to cook dinner. Since I leave it out on the stove it's so easy to grab and use. I love one pot recipes and the white enamel inside is so easy to clean. Make sure to size up and get a least a 7 quart. Look for sales on these at the outlets.
Bench scraper - These are sometimes called bench scapers and sometimes called dough cutters. But it is by far the easiest way to transfer cut veggies from the cutting board to the pan. Once you try it, you'll never go back. If Zach accidentally puts this in the dishwasher I have to take it out because I use it every night without exception.
Giant wood chopping block - We received this off our wedding registry and leave it out on the counter all the time because it is just gorgeous. If you see if out it is just calling your name to cut vegetables on it. That way we never forget to have veggies with every meal. We condition ours with butcher block oil and wash occasionally in the sink or use a lemon and sea salt to sanitize it.
Sorry the picture below is more a picture of my plant but the magnetic knife board in the background is one of my favorite pieces. We only use these 4 knives and rather than having a knife block out that gets dusty with steak knives we rarely use I like this style better. While I don't own this next piece next I know if will be a favorite in our kitchen soon. Getting this Japanese Chef's knife for Christmas. It is one of the sharpest out these and will last us forever.
I interviewed my mom and Zach and asked them their absolute favorite item and Zach's answer was this La Creuset mixing bowl for his protein pancakes and my mom's was this baking stone. This is a baking sheet you never wash with soap and like a pizza stone it seasons itself. She uses it for pizza, cookies, rolls, everything!
