Rent the runway

I had the best experience with Rent the Runway and I literally want to scream it from the rooftops. No pun intended that we are on a windy rooftop here! This is not sponsored in any way I just tried them for the first time and thought it was such a cool concept. Talking with other people, no one had heard of it so I thought I would talk through the process.

If you go to their website you can sort the rental options by the type of event. I chose cocktail dresses since the wedding I was going was not black tie. From there, you can sort by price range and I was looking in the $40 range. That is your total rental price for a dress that retails at hundreds of dollars. If you click on a dress you like make sure to scroll down and read the reviews and check out the pictures people have shared of them personally wearing the dress. I found that some dresses looked great in the main picture but looked much shorter or an entirely different color when viewing the real life pictures.

I chose my navy dress and selected my regular size and the next size up. You get two dresses when you select a dress to make sure it’s going to fit. Since it was my first time using RTR I had a promo code for a free second dress and 20% off my total order. So all in I paid about $35 to get three dresses! You can also rent all sorts of jewelry. I ordered these months in advance to make sure the dress I wanted did not sell out and it shipped to me the Thursday before my event. If I wasn’t going out of town I would have had it shipped Friday. I had to have it returned in a UPS drop box Sunday.

The dresses come in a full hanging zipper bag right to your doorstep. All you have to do is put your dresses (unwashed) back on the hangers and in the bags, switch out the UPS tag, and drop in a UPS dropbox to return.

Here is the gorgeous satin dress my Sister in Law chose:

Both of us agreed we would have bought these dresses but in the long run we always like wearing new dresses to each event. I have 4 more weddings this year to attend and I plan on using Rent the Runway for all of them.

Here is my original dress. I chose the XS size but there was barely any difference between that and the small.

Below is my free second dress. I didn't hate it but didn't love it as much as the first dress.

Excuse all the iPhone pictures! I just wanted to capture what this experience was really like. If you have any questions please email us at prettygirlparade@gmail.com
