table talk
What are your favorite sources for home decor inspiration?
Sam: I love reading home decor blogs and following them on instagram for inspiration. My favorites are Style by Emily Henderson, Becki Owens, Lauren Liess, and Studio Mcgee. Their design tips are amazing, for example this week on her blog, Emily Henderson showed basic rules of design for dining rooms and living rooms. I've learned so many tips that I put into action at our house. Did you know when hanging art the center should be at eye level or 60"? I have been hanging art too high my whole life! (learned this from Studio McGee)
Karissa: I also follow a lot of the same bloggers as Sam. I also love following my favorite home stores like Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel on Instagram for inspiration! If I'm struggling with how to style something like a shelf or tablescape I love getting ideas on Pinterest!
Did you guys buy anything from the opal house collection- what pieces do you love?
Karissa: The Opal House collection is super cute, but I haven't bought anything... yet! I'm eyeing this frame, this planter, this serving bowl, and these monogrammed mugs (would also make a super cute gift!)
Sam: I have not yet but if I were to happen to walk into a Target I would be tempted to buy this ottoman, this mirror and these pillows. This Moroccan wedding quilt would be gorgeous to add to the foot of your bed for summer. The china and dishes in Opal House reminds me of Anthropology mixed with Kate spade.
Any suggestion for shoes you can wear in between seasons with socks and also cute shoes for in between seasons!?
Sam: I try and avoid wearing socks at all costs because they cut off my ankle circulation. I love a bootie like this that you don't need to wear socks with. My go-to's during this terrible Ohio weather and every day to work have been mules like these. That way you don't feel cold like an an open toed shoe but it still feels like dressing for spring. I just ordered these leather loafers and have worn them every day since!
Karissa: I think that a bootie is perfect for that awkward in-between season.. and you can easily wear a sock with most of them! I love this bootie (Sam has them!) or even a bootie like this. I also love loafers (like these or these) for in-between seasons but it's a little harder to wear socks with.. unless you wear a sock like this!?
