Bradley and I got our Goldendoodle Fitz back in December and since then it has been a serious learning experience. Growing up, neither of us had dogs - I had a cat and Bradley had a goldfish (that shouldn't even count but oh well). We got Fitz on a whim - I was searching AdoptAPet.com for fun... we had talked about getting a Goldendoodle for as long as I can remember and so this was something I did frequently. I found a puppy Goldendoodle up for adoption and I couldn't turn it down... he was so adorable and looked more like a Golden Retriever than a Poodle, which was a definite bonus in our books. Anyways, with Bradley's OK, we decided to e-mail the rescue and see how much he would be-we told ourselves if he was under a certain amount we would get him. Well the lady never emailed us back!!! I frantically checked my email whining to Bradley about how much I wanted him, so Bradley decided to email her again. The lady happened to be sitting on her computer at that moment and saw his email- so after we filled out some paper work, Bradley decided to go see him for himself. I unfortunately had to be at work so couldn't go with - thankfully Bradley loved him and we took him home.

Bradley and I made an immediate call to Sam (our go to person for all things dog) asking "what do we need immediately when we get this puppy!?" We literally had no idea. Bradley picked up a leash, collar, a few toys, and we borrowed Sam's dog car sling (everyone needs one - they're amazing). We got him home and we had no dog food, no bowls, no bed, and had no idea where to even begin.

The first month of puppy-parenthood was absolutely awful.. and I mean that in all seriousness. He whined all night, peed all over the floor, and insisted on sleeping in our bed.. I couldn't even sleep because I was so worried about him.

Anyways, I am completely obsessed with him and feel like he is my actual child. He is also completely spoiled rotten... but that's nobody's fault but mine. Fitz chews through every toy we get him... I feel like I am constantly buying him toys. One of the toys that has lasted the longest for us are these benebones (he has two flavors) - I like the wishbone style, the other one actually got stuck on his mouth once (one of the scariest moments of my life). They are definitely our longest lasting toy. We have also had luck with HuggleHound toys (he currently has this sock monkey). He almost immediately chews off the arms and legs (we usually amputate the toy when it gets bad) but it usually takes him a little time to get to the body and he loves playing with them. If we need to occupy him for a little bit we love this Everlasting Treat Ball (thanks to Sam and Oslo for the recommendation!!)

What dog toys have lasted the longest for you!?

jeans // tank // white shoes // similar flannel here & here

p.s. stay tuned for the next episode of The Fitz Files - where we will discuss more doggie things! xo
