sam's 3 month house update
I cannot believe it has already been 3 months since we moved into our first home! Zach and I started the grueling process of searching for a house back in December and found one after only seeing 3 houses. You have to act quick in our area - houses are selling within hours!
I'll do a full styled shoot (with links to everything I bought) once we finish a few more updates on the house, but I wanted to share with you all where we are at after the first few months. Sorry -the pictures are not that great, they are all pictures from the inspection and my iPhone!
If you have any questions on where I bought any of the decor/furniture, just comment and I'll let you know!
KITCHEN
The first day in the house we got rid of the ugly red paint! The red tones made all of the oak look even more orange than it was. Zach and Bradley installed the the subway tile themselves in one day and it has made such a difference! Next steps will be painting the cabinets a soft white and painting the island jade.
All of the BEFORE pictures are on the left and the AFTER pictures on the right
We felt this empty wall space made the entire kitchen feel choppy so we installed our own shelves. As soon as we paint the cabinets white we'll stain the shelves a shade of walnut.

DINING AREA
We had our dining room table hand built by our old neighbor and we stained it a mix of Classic Grey and Special Walnut (50/50) by Minwax. We just ordered the matching bench for the side that does not have the gray chairs
FRONT ROOM
My favorite room in the house because it gets the most light! Here is the before and after. The front room before just served as a little girl's playroom. We call this our whiskey and euchre room.
LIVING ROOM
Looking from the living room back into the kitchen, the dark red made the entire space feel small. We painted the entire first floor Silver Drop by Behr and it was the perfect shade of light gray to modernize and open up the space.
BEFORE // AFTER
We used a bamboo valance as a filler on top of the window to make the window appear larger. By hanging the curtains at the ceiling instead of the top of the window it lengthens the entire wall.
BACKYARD
We filled our large deck with our Adirondack chairs and a patio set for outdoor dining.
A month into buying our house we had this cedar fence installed so our dog, Oslo, could run freely in the backyard. He is still trying to figure out the idea of not being on his leash, but he's loving the open space! This weekend we stained our fence a dark brown.
Here is Zach with a beer 9 hours into staining.
Thanks for sticking with that long picture montage! I'll post more pictures of the rest of the house and upstairs once we finish a few more updates!
